I have been playing around with the various blogging programs such as Typepad, Blogger, and Nucleus, and now I have finally settled on Word Press.
Though I think that Nucleus is a great tool, Word Press offers hosted sites such as this one at no charge. The features available for Word Press, at the no cost level, are very impressive.
On this site I can rearrange the side bar, add custom sections, and do what I please with the header. There are about 20 designs to choose from and their are constantly updated, which is more than I can say about Typepad.
Blogger is nice because you can update the html directly, but if you don’t want to spend all night trying to figure it out, Word Press is a nice middle ground. You can pay a little extra to edit the CSS of any Word Press blog, but the simple features available are enough to get anyone up and running in no time.
I am also very impressed with the editing options in word press. I find the Editor, which resembles a word processor, and the HTML options to be very user-friendly. The Open Source community has hit a home run in my opinion.
So I have set up this blog as a place to just post on Vermont. I enjoy having a place to put all of my links, pictures, thoughts, etc. related to the Green Mountain state.
I also hope to use this blog as a tool of sorts that others can access in order to see what is possible with Word Press.
